Litigation & Insolvency
Tony Heaver-Wren is an Associate in the Cayman Islands’ Litigation & Insolvency Practice Group and practices in the Insolvency and Restructuring team, as well as the Fund Disputes team. He works primarily in the areas of solvent and insolvent liquidations and insolvent corporate restructurings, shareholder and director disputes and insolvency litigation. Tony also provides advice on a range of funds, insurance and cross-jurisdictional matters.
Tony has over 12 years experience in advising and representing major lenders, liquidators, administrators, receivers and boards of private and publicly listed companies on all aspects of corporate governance contentious and non-contentious insolvency and corporate restructuring.
Tony is currently working on the closure of the BCCI liquidation, the world’s largest bank insolvency, advising investors in troubled hedge funds and has recently provided advice to clients of the firm's Hong Kong office. Tony has previously been involved in litigation and schemes of arrangement involving energy and resources companies, he has provided insolvency advice and representation to key participants in the aviation, shipping, retail, tourism, manufacturing and automobile industries. Tony has also provided extensive advice on enforcement options and strategies to banks and other lenders.
Tony obtained an LL.B degree at the University of Western Australia, graduating in 1993, having previously obtained an Arts (Honours) degree at UWA. Tony was called to the Western Australian Bar in February 1994 and was admitted to the roll as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 2006 (now non-practising). On 5 February 2008 Tony was admitted as an attorney in the Cayman Islands.
Tony has published and presented extensively. Tony was a committee member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals in England and of the Insolvency Professional’s Network in Australia.
